An Overview of AID-Project

AID-Project is a web-based project management system designed for USAID projects. AID-Project is offered under a Software as a Service (SaaS) model. There is no costly hardware or software to buy.

AID-Project is provided to customers via the Internet under a service level agreement offering:

  • Secure (SSL) connections
  • 99.9% uptime
  • 24-hour security and intrusion monitoring
  • Backup and data recovery services (with both on- and off-site data storage)
  • Application server located in a US-based, state-of-the-art facility protected against power-outages, fire, and natural disasters.

Suitable for Projects of All Sizes

AID-Project has an implementation package for any size project.

  • Team Package: Up to 10 users -- includes 5 gigabytes of document storage.
  • Workgroup Package: Up to 30 users -- includes 7 gigabytes of document storage.
  • Professional Package: Up to 100 users -- includes 10 gigabytes of document storage.

Features

  • Online Work Planning: Creating a work plan in AID-Project is as easy as creating an outline, much like MS-Project. Everything in AID-Project integrates into the work plan: budgets, documents, scopes of work, results, everything.
  • Budgeting: A very important aspect of project management is budgeting. In AID-Project, budgeting is integrated right into the work plan. Add a Project Action to the work plan, then add budget line items to the Action. Build up your budget as you build out your work plan.
  • Desktop Reporting: AID-Project uses familiar desktop software (MS-Access, MS-Excel, and MS-Project) as its primary reporting tools. Download project data directly from the on-line database into MS-Access for both printed and electronic reports (with automated data transfer to Excel). Work plan data can likewise be imported into MS-Project via the Internet to create Gantt charts and other useful work plan output.
  • Document Management Online: Deliverables, reports, scopes of work, and all project documents are essential management inputs and outputs. Using AID-Project, these mission critical documents are stored on-line within the work plan where they are accessible to project staff anywhere in the world, no matter what time zone they're in.
  • Online country clearances: Managing the travel of short- and long-term personnel has been greatly simplified with online country clearances in AID-Project. With the participation of your local USAID mission, country clearance requests and approvals can be generated automatically and approved online.
  • Results tracking: AID-Project can be set up to integrate with a separate monitoring system, allowing you to link your work plan and your project actions to the results and indicators in your external project monitoring software. A direct linkage to USAID-based PMP systems is being designed and will be released soon.
  • Flexibility: If your management environment has special needs, AID-Project can be customized to meet your project's specific requirements.
